Tahiti Bloggers Unhappy about President Tong Sang's Political Attitude

Tahiti-Papeete (PRWEB) August 14, 2007 -? Lebop, expresses his unhappiness with the way the president of French Polynesia took advantage of a political mourning period in a new post on Politita.net, a blog devoted to politics in Tahiti.

?Whereas all the parties, without exception, respected a truce and two days mourning period issued by the Country to mark the solidarity and the compassion of all the Polynesians vis-a-vis the drama of the families touched by the air crash landing, RFO and the President of the Country activated a quite useless polemic relating to the conditions and requests expressed by Tahoeraa in order to reinstate the coalition separatist and to again constitute a majority with the Parliament of French Polynesia,? he said.

The controversy arose when irregularities in the dates of emails addressed to the president around the time of the mishap showed that the president was playing politics at a time of national crisis. Lebop believes that the president has an ulterior motive for suspending government work for the entire mourning period.

?This reveals a calculated political will to take advantage of this terrible crisis,? Lebop said.

The president has made all the right noises about respect for this difficult time ? attending the official ceremonies, making certain not to discuss politics with Christian Estrosi, and making no political declarations during the last few days.

?And one can, consequently, wonder why the President would like to suspend any political activity until the weekend as it stated on RFO. Life must continue, governmental work and economic policy and social life of the Country must thus also continue,? he said.

?By this declaration, one can suspect the President of the Country of wanting, there too, to be instrumental in a drama to save time in a very important decision -- that to recompose a majority and a government -- which is of its only responsibility. One should not be deluded: the action of the government and the administration is slowed down by an incomplete governmental manpower, the files in progress in the government departments of the economy, finances, fishing, agriculture? are all delayed. The normal work of a parliamentary Parliament worthy of this name is impossible, even if the government is currently not in session. It would be, indeed, inadmissible that our representatives are currently in layoff due to absence of a majority, whereas they are still being paid sums of taxpayers' money.

?Whereas all the economic and social paid actors and employers, get busy make the economic machine turn, it would be improper if the political power suspends any activity all this week. Moreover, taking into consideration the manpower of our Administration, it is completely possible to carry out all the building sites necessary or in progress, and at the same time pay proper regard to the consequences of the air crash landing. On the latter subject, one can note that the current plan more than just pays respects, it means the services of the State are mobilized.

?False pretexts and instrumentalisation of a drama are never of good policy, because they are always turned over against their authors.?
